Big Local - What’s it all about?
Brookside Big Local is a National Lottery funded community group. Brookside is one of the 150 communities selected to receive £1 million to make lasting positive change to the area by planning, delivering and engaging in projects to benefit the residents of Brookside.
Our area
The Brookside Big Local area covers the ‘Island’ of Brookside in Telford. The Brookside ward has a population of 6,511 (census 2021)
Many people have lived in Brookside for a lot of their lives and are passionate about the area and coming together as a community.
Local Trusted Organisation
To ensure openness and transparency, we have a locally trusted organisation who act as our accountable body. Their role is to hold and account for the grant funding that we have been give. Brookside Central Community Centre is our fund holder taking on this responsibility.
Our vision
To increase and improve existing services available to all residents and develop needed services that do not already exist.
To improve and maintain a cleaner, safer and more welcoming environment for both residents and visitors.
To increase our program of activities and events for all ages to enjoy an to increase social integration.
To assist and develop social enterprises, and to develop a means of self funding to continue development.
To work with our partnership and network of people to increase interest and development within the community and local area.
How to get involved!
The involvement and leadership of local people is at the core of the project. As a resident, volunteer or employee within the area there are many opportunities to be involved.
If you would like to become a member of the partnership, the group meets on a monthly basis where decisions concerning the delivery of the Brookside Big Local project are made.
